After establishing its fund and investing in four startups in 2021, Startupfon continued to invest at a rapid pace in 2022. The fund invested in a total of 10 more startups, bringing its portfolio to 14. By the end of 2022, the fund had achieved a multiplier of 2.6x in just one year.
For every $1 invested by Startupfon, its portfolio startups received $33 in follow-on funding. The most heavily invested sectors in 2022 were fintech, education/platform, IoT, robotics, and web3.0.
Women comprise 35% of Startupfon's portfolio partners. The fund's startups export to more than 30 countries and employ over 400 people, with these numbers continuing to grow.
Startupfon's portfolio startups operate and employ people in Turkey, the UK, and the US. Technological investments in fintech, IoT, robotics, web 3.0, social media, e-commerce, AI, sports, HR technology, and software were made.
In 2022, Startupfon launched a new education series called the TechInvestor Academy, which was exclusive to investors. The Academy focused on technology investing and featured collaborations and events with leading industry funds and media companies. More than 100 investors and potential investors attended events in various cities across Turkey, including Istanbul and Ankara.
Approximately 60% of Startupfon's investors come from outside Istanbul, according to investor statistics.
Six of Startupfon's portfolio startups were included on Fast Company's "Most Successful 100 Startups" list in 2022. These startups are Colendi, EasyCep, Buy Buddy, Delivers.ai, Atlas Space, and Kunduz.
Startupfon completed its application for a crowdfunding platform license in 2022.
The company launched a new website and a new video series featuring informative content and guests on its YouTube channel.
Startupfon is already working on plans for 2023 as the year draws to a close.
